坐月子是指孕妇产后用一个月或多月的时间进行休养。坐月子可以追溯至西汉《礼记内则》，称之为“月内”，距今已有两千多年的历史，为产后必须的仪式性行为。从社会学和医学的角度来看，“坐月子”是协助产妇顺利渡过人生生理和心理转折的关键时期。
