◎我国古代东胡族的一支。原居于今辽河上游西剌木伦河一带，所属分八部。唐时耶律阿保机并合各部，统有今蒙古、东北、热河、察哈尔、绥远及河北北部，自号为王，建国号为辽。宋时为金所灭。
